#3N: National Sex Workers’ Strike in Argentina

On 3 November, a National Sex Workers’ Strike will take place in Argentina, called by the Association of Women Sex Workers of Argentina (AMMAR). It will be a day of mobilisation, work stoppages and actions across the country to demand justice, denounce violence and draw attention to the precarious conditions many sex workers face.

The strike follows the recent murders of four sex workers: Bárbara and Débora in Rosario; Daniela in Córdoba; and Tatiana in the City of Buenos Aires. Four names that now represent a collective demand for justice and a reality we can no longer ignore.

At Skokka, we are raising awareness of the strike in support of these demands. Because talking about sex work also means talking about safety, respect and rights.

Under the slogan “Justice means never being killed again”, AMMAR is calling for a day of action that aims to put the spotlight on a reality that extends far beyond these crimes.

There is no serial killer: precarious conditions are putting lives at risk

The recent murders have sent shock waves across Argentina. While some media coverage has focused on the possibility of a serial killer targeting women, AMMAR is calling for a broader perspective and an examination of the structural conditions that expose sex workers to violence.

The organisation puts it unequivocally:

“There is no serial killer; there are precarious conditions and structural poverty that force us to work entirely underground.”

This statement brings to the fore an issue that is often absent from the headlines: the lack of labour rights, social stigma, institutional violence and financial hardship that can make people who engage in sex work more vulnerable.

At Skokka, listening to these experiences is essential to understanding the sector’s real needs. Sex workers’ safety cannot be addressed without considering the conditions in which they work or listening to those who experience these situations first-hand.

#3N: When and where will the National Sex Workers’ Strike take place?

On Tuesday 3 November 2026, sex workers from different provinces across Argentina will take part in a national day of protest and awareness-raising.

At Skokka, we want to help spread the word about the strike so that our community can learn about the planned activities and understand the reasons behind the mobilisation.

The announced actions include:

  • 11:00 – City of Buenos Aires: a performance-based action outside the National Congress.
  • 18:00 – Córdoba: protest and awareness-raising activities.
  • 19:00 – Rosario: actions as part of the national day of protest.
  • 20:00 – Province of Buenos Aires: mobilisation activities.

Community kitchens are also planned in several provinces, alongside assemblies in areas where sex workers work and social media actions to bring these demands to a wider audience.

The aim of the day is not only to remember the victims, but also to demand conditions that allow sex workers to live their lives with greater safety, protection and respect.

Their lives are not disposable: a demand that matters to us too

Behind the National Sex Workers’ Strike is a conversation we consider essential: what happens when the stigma attached to an activity ends up affecting the safety, access to rights and public perception of those who engage in it?

AMMAR has spent years working to raise awareness of these issues and calling for sex workers’ rights to be recognised. Its work reminds us that no one should be left unprotected or face barriers to accessing justice because they engage in sex work.

At Skokka, as an international adult classified advertising platform, we recognise the importance of listening to and understanding the realities of the people who make up our sector.

That is why we follow AMMAR’s work closely and maintain an ongoing dialogue with the organisation, with the aim of learning first-hand about sex workers’ needs and finding ways to keep improving and contributing within our field.

We know that bringing these conversations into the public eye matters, but so does listening, learning and acknowledging the challenges that remain.

#3N reminds us that behind every advert, every conversation and every story are people whose lives, rights and safety must be respected.

Justice means never being killed again

On 3 November, sex workers in Argentina will bring visibility to a demand that extends beyond this day of action.

The names of Bárbara, Débora, Daniela and Tatiana will be remembered during a day that seeks to demand justice, denounce the conditions that leave people vulnerable and remind us that behind every news story is a person, a story and a life that deserves respect.

At Skokka, we want to continue making space for these voices and helping their demands reach a wider audience. Because we believe that talking about sexuality and sex work also means talking about dignity, protection and the right to live free from violence.

The #3N call to action is an opportunity to listen, reflect and understand why these demands remain urgent.

Their lives are not disposable. Their lives matter too.
