Skokka Supports End Violence Against Sex Workers Day

With ‘International End Violence Against Sex Workers Day’ on 17th December, Skokka are calling for change. Our global platform, which connects adults seeking consensual relationships, stands united in compassion, respect, and advocacy, by recognising sex workers as individuals who are deserving of safety, dignity, and rights.

By standing against the systemic violence and discrimination faced by sex workers worldwide, together, we can create a safer and more inclusive world. We aim to raise awareness and provide essential resources for individuals in the sex industry to promote safety, dignity, and rights.

Why This Matters

Skokka’s initiative aligns with a broader global movement advocating for the rights and safety of sex workers. Leading human rights groups, including Amnesty International and UNAIDS, advocate for the decriminalisation of sex work. They argue that the decriminalisation would not only reduce violence but also empower sex workers to report abuse, access health services, and assert their rights. Such change is necessary not just for sex workers but for building a society that respects and upholds the dignity of every individual.

Secure Skokka

You may have already seen us discuss Secure Skokka, our specialist website, specifically aimed to help sex workers recognise and avoid scams. Scams are another harmful form of victimisation within the sex work industry, and our resources here are designed to empower individuals to protect themselves through education and vigilance.

By addressing gaps in knowledge sharing, which are often exacerbated by restrictive legislation, these resources empower those within the industry to protect themselves and their peers.

Safety, Respect and Rights

This call is not just about protecting a vulnerable community but about advancing human rights, dignity, and equality for all. Current legislation and societal stigma often doesn’t favour sex work, often leaving industry professionals at a loss. These barriers increase isolation and exposure to violence. December 17th is a critical reminder of the urgent need for systemic change to ensure safety, respect, and rights for sex workers globally.

At Skokka, we urge policymakers, organisations, and the public to stand against violence and advocate for inclusive legislation that prioritises the well-being of sex workers.

Our teams are dedicated to creating safer environments for all individuals in the sex industry. By amplifying their voices, challenging stigma, and providing critical resources, we can move closer to a world free of violence against sex workers. If everyone else has the chance to work without threat and violence, so should sex workers.

Skokka’s Commitment to Change

Recognising the urgent need for action, Skokka has stepped forward to challenge these injustices. As a digital platform operating in diverse markets, Skokka has a unique vantage point and we aim to emphasise:

Raising Awareness: Through campaigns, partnerships, and educational content, Skokka seeks to dismantle harmful stereotypes about sex work and promote empathy. We will always challenge the stigma!

Advocating for Legal Protections: Skokka supports the decriminalisation of consensual sex work, arguing that this step is essential to protecting workers’ rights and ensuring their access to justice.

Meaningful Partnerships: By collaborating with organisations that specialise in supporting sex workers, Skokka aims to provide resources such as crisis hotlines, shelters, and mental health support.

Encouraging Community Solidarity: Solidarity with sex workers is key, and we aim to challenge policies and behaviors that perpetuate violence.
