With the new year upon us, many of us will now be looking for tips to boost wellbeing to ensure we start January as we mean to go on! Whether you’re looking to be stress-free this year, get fit, or indulge in more self-care, it’s so important to set achievable goals that will make you feel good for the year. This week, the Skokka team discuss some of the top wellbeing tips to ensure you thrive in 2025!
Sweet Dreams
First on our list is sleep. It’s so important to get a good night’s rest – it’s the time where your body refreshes and replenishes itself from the day. This is fundamental time in which the body resets and the mind clears, leaving you ready to tackle the day ahead.
A lack of sleep can affect your energy levels, your focus, what you eat and how stressed you are, so aim for a minimum of 7 hours as standard. Be sure to head to bed around the similar time each evening and ditch the screens, to allow a good nightly routine and for your mind and body to truly switch off.
You Are What Your Eat
If all you eat is processed foods, you’ll feel sluggish too. Eating a balanced diet means you’re fuelling and nourishing your body with great food. You’ll be more productive, have more energy and you’ll find your mood improves! However, eating well doesn’t mean you have to live off celery and chicken! Keep your plate colourful, with plenty of vegetables and protein to keep you full up for longer.
The key to sustaining a healthy diet is balance, so don’t deprive yourself of a little treat week to week, just enjoy in moderation! Our top tip is to cook more at home, experiment with spices, and make dinner an event to look forward to!
Proper Hydration
Next on our lists of tips to boost wellbeing is proper hydration – this will make your skin glow, your digestion smooth, and your energy levels increase. Keep a 2 litre water bottle near throughout the day, so you can sip whenever you’re thirsty. If you find it hard to drink a lot of water, try putting slices of citrus fruit, cucumber, strawberry or mint into a bottle of water, put it in the fridge and leave to infuse overnight! Remember, a hydrated body is a happy body.
Move More
You’ve heard it a million times, but let us say it again: exercise is essential to your wellbeing. It can really help you to feel your best from the inside out. Challenge yourself to find a routine you enjoy this year. Whether it’s a weekly dance class, yoga class, lifting weights at the gym, or heading out for a brisk daily walk. Moving your body releases endorphins, clears your mind, and keeps your body supple. 20 minutes of daily movement is all you need to start feeling the benefits.
Spice Up Your Love Life
Sex is an amazing way to boost your wellbeing, although it often doesn’t make it onto these kinds of lists! However, it’s a basic human need that shouldn’t be overlooked. Regular sex improves heart health, reduces stress, and is proven to help you sleep better. Plus, it’s a great form of exercise!
This year, prioritise your sex life. Whether it’s getting into a regular routine with your partner, trying something completely new in the bedroom, or embracing solo sessions with sex toys, your journey of exploration can begin today. Nothing is more attractive than someone who is confident in their own desires, so invest the time in making this your year of pleasure! You’ll notice a positive difference in your mood, your self esteem and raise your libido so that sex becomes a regular part of your self-care routine.
Prioritise Self Care
One of the best tips to boost wellbeing is to prioritise self-care. This doesn’t just mean pampering yourself (although that is very important), it also includes recognising what you need and showing up for yourself in ways that will have long term benefits. For example, it’s important to set boundaries, so say no when you need to. Switch off from your phone if you’re feeling a little overwhelmed. Invest in therapy if you’ve been considering it, start a journal to share your thoughts and celebrate your wins, however big or small. Giving back to yourself is the best kind of reward and ensures that your wellbeing takes priority in your life.
